All My MSD's
Dec. 7th, 2024 11:14 am
This morning, I took out all of my MSD's. This picture shows my core "story" crew. In order from left to right, they are: Gertrude, Johnny, Shelley, Ophelia, Dresden, Frances, and Jude. The newest doll, and the only doll I bought from a doll company is Gertrude (Dollmore Flocke), from 2015. The oldest is probably Frances (Volks Super Dollfie Cute Kaede, 2004). I love them all. I am really struggling for space, but I can't bear to part with any of them.

Right now, I feel more drawn to my more "adult" looking MSD's, as opposed to the child-like ones. In order from left to right: Willow, Lorien, Emmanuelle, and a Dream of Doll body I intended to sell but don't want to part with after all. I was amazed at how the Dream of Doll body is more similar in size to my Tonner Nu Mood Breathless, to its right, than any other body. I never understood what the deal with that was. At some point, Dream of Doll released this more mature girl body, but it's tiny compared to other MSD's. I also thought it was interesting how my Tonner Breathless has the lightest Tonner skintone there is, called "lily," yet looks tan compared to most of my MSD's.

My Nu Mood Breathless, tentatively named Bertholda, was one of my many 2024 doll additions. I am sorry to say that I have done so little with her, but I really love her. My poor Glynnis is right of Bertholda. I got in her 2014, and she is so yellow. I have not cared for the face-up that I had to have re-done for her after a mishap with her original faceup. It is just too dark and heavy-looking for her elfish personality and, as a result, she has been in storage for years.

Here, you can see Gertrude and Johnny, side-by-side, ten years apart in terms of resin age. I think Dollmore's MSD bodies have changed quite a bit over the years, too. I have tried several different eye colors on Johnny, and still haven't found the right look for him. It's a balancing act between the look I want for him (blue-eyed blonde), his yellowed resin, and his rather strong face-up, which is his original face-up from Dollmore.

Here are the Dream of Doll's. I don't know why, but pretty much at any time I can think about them and feel so happy and excited. This has been the case since 2004. What is it about Dream of Dolls?! It isn't just me. They still have a small but dedicated following in the doll community. Shelley, my Tender Too, and Ophelia, my Tender Bee-a, were purchased separately by me, though they were originally sold as a pair from Dream of Doll. My Twing-key, Dresden, was purchased used in 2011, and she is the MSD I've had the longest. I got her face-up redone the year after I got her and loved it, but unfortunately, it's quite dingy now. All my DoD's need new face-ups, but I am just not ready to put them in the mail yet.

Frances still has her original Volks face-up and eyes, and all of her clothing and accessories, though they are aging and fragile at this point. Jude is in a similar state to Glynnis in that he needs a new face-up but is so very old and yellowed. I love his proportions, though. He is such an old-school proportioned bjd, and back when he had a face-up, he looked great in everything.

I actually sent Willow back to Angel of Dream for a replacement face-up, which I can't believe they agreed to, but I absolutely love it. It cost as much as just buying a new Angel of Dream Qing, but I wanted to keep my Willow. Next to her is Lorien, who has been on my mind the most lately. I need to send her off for a new face-up. Volks SDC Kurenai was always such a favorite of mine. I only have her head, but I love she looks on the Angel of Dream body. Then, my Angel of Dream Meng Yaqi head is my newest doll here, in terms of manufacture, from 2021. Her body is the same Angel of Dream "Normal Yellow" resin, but several years older. To me, in person, it's a good color match, but in the photo, the body looks quite a bit more yellowed than the head.

This is the mess waiting for me upstairs after I finish this entry. I am going to throw away all of my doll boxes. It feels like a sin, but I can barely do anything with my dolls anymore due to lack of space. I plan to wrap them in their cushions in store them in a large plastic storage big, which will make a lot more room.
Butterfly (ginger) and Claude (Siamese) showed up to hang out with the dolls, as well.
